december's travels part 1

went to bkk with mr nguyen where i brought him around shopping and eating..enjoyed ourselves alot, especially when stuffs were dirt cheap after converting to aussie dollars for him. and i miss yaowarat's tom yum goong & bird nest, MBK's pad thai, mango sticky rice & beef ball noodles, maccas's XL fries, roadside's coconut, pratunam's 180B foot massage &&& MBK's $4 manicure! I definitely have to go back to bkk again soon!

i went for this job "interview" in city where the person wanted me to sit in with this other guy whom i'll be replacing if i do accept the job. its a really smalllllll company and the position is just a IT helpdesk support lah but they make it sound as if its more important that that. and they're willing to pay A$160 a day for me! thats equivalent to A$20 per hour! but i said no.. and i think the hiring manager irena was abit disappointed and maybe angry? i dunoe lah, but they sort of wasted my time too by making me sit in with that guy for 1.5 hours only to make me feel this is not the job and company i wanna be in. best part was that irena finished her meeting only at 4.30pm when she told me to come in at 11.15am! crazy lor, lucky i didnt and i came in only at 1+.

anyway, im pretty sure that there'll be some where that suits me in spore lah. low pay long hours also no choice lah. or maybe i can bluff them that im taking a part time degree at night so i have to finish work early.

just last sat, i went ktv-ing with a bunch of com sci pple at crown. i didnt think that it would be so expensive just to sing! A$374 for a normal room!!! on top of that we had 2 VSOP hennessy and 1 chivas which is like 190 each and 135 each! OMG. i think i prefer the 11 bucks for 3 hours at kbox which includes lunch n drinks. and since most of them were from hongkong, my ears had to suffer from the hk's chinese accent from 11 - 3+ am .

its been a long time

i forgot about this blog until mabel asked for my address.. been a long time since i posted hey! my life is still the same, work eat watch mobtv loh. but my mum n aunt came over last week for my graduation ceremony! we took the tour down to wave rock (4 freaking hours there!) which is so amazingly natural! its nicer than nature's window in kalbarri, except the shell beach in denham cant beat any others. anyway, it was a pretty long week for both me n henry, since he had to drive us on some days, as well as provide special delivery for the fussy singaporeans. i tink the main problem was that food wasn't toooo much to their liking, even my chilli pepper chicken didnt manage to win them over. jennifer said it tasted like nuggets. -_- since when she ever had nuggets in the first place? both of them were forced to eat mac donald's muffins for breakfast - something they never never touched in spore. so in the end, my poor henry had to bring a toaster, bread, butter, nutella and horlicks for me on the same night he had to cook spagetti for us coz mum kept asking if anywhere sells spagetti. the receptionist in the hotel was like "hey what's happening!" when she saw us bringing a big pot and plate of spagetti noodles and a huge salad bowl.

perth didn't have much to offer them since we didn't drive to any nearby places to see dolphins or the jetty. we just hanged around city and harbourtown, and swan river coz mum apparently loves swan river. the week's stay with them made me slept early and wake up early after they left.. but....... on monday morning, i fell off my bed at 8am becoz while i was dreaming, this big insect was coming towards me so i was trying to jump away or something, and i landed on the floor. thank god my room is carpeted. 2 hours later, my aunt from msia called me crying to tell me my dad is in a critical condition lying in the hospital. and then i felt, perhaps that fall was a sign.. she kinda begged me to talk to him, but i didnt want to. in the end all i said was 3 hellos. although i sort of regretted not saying more to him, but at that time my mouth just couldn't open to say anything more. at about 11.30pm i got a sms from her saying my father has passed away. and he would be cremated and his ashes would be thrown into port klang.. my first thought was OMG wont the fishes eat the ashes?! and i believe lots of people are doing that since my aunt got the package where the boat is provided.. gosh. the people who eat the fishes!!!

anywayyyyy.... im going to perth royal show later!! YAY! looking forward to it since months ago, and since i'll be going back spore in dec, this might be my last royal show! but on the other hand, i feel bad coz whilst my father's family is crying, im making merry here..

another good news for me... we'll be going to hongkong n macau on 8th december! yay.. although it was supposed to be europe, but for me now, its the people that matters, not so much the place. my plan is to go back spore end nov and then go thailand for a week with henry, but.. phuket is out coz he's scared of tsunami. hahahahha.

a disappointed me

my very very first attempt at driving... and i failed. within 10 minutes. blooooody stupid me.

coz i didnt come to a complete halt at a STOP sign. i totally deserved failing..

to think i was actually so looking forward to this test a week ago, becoz i made plans to drive my mum and aunt around when they are here.. i even made plans to rent a hyundai getz for my 25 hours of supervised driving and even for driving my mum and aunt around.. and all my plans cannot be carried out just becoz of my carelessness. before my test, i drove around the surroundings and charles actually stepped on his brake becoz u have to stop as if it was a traffic light and stop for 2-3 seconds before moving off.

damm me and my stubborness.

lazy me

i feel so lazy to blog nowadays, even though im doing nothing most of the time except watching channel 8 dramas. got a call from motorola for the position of graduate software engineer, but then i got rejected just after the first question - are u a citizen or PR?

damm, i hate it. they actually considered me the fact that they called me up, but all becoz i dont have PR i get rejected?! well anyway, im still waiting for the reply from immigration whether my bridging visa is successful or not, else i have to pack my bags n fly home!

sometimes i really feel like going back.. but the thought of having to work till 11pm and getting low pay reverses the thought. anyway! since im a full time slacker nowadays, henry has so kindly sponsored me the materials for scrapbooking! i kind of got the stuffs, but since i dont have any creative brain cells at all.... i totally dont know how to start.

had a bbq with ex erica housemates at heathcross, a corner tucked away in applecross. food was nice, BUT it was freaking cold.. try being out in the cold for about 3 hours in 4 degrees!!!

my uncertain future

i've done 3 out of 4 things for my PR application which leaves me alot alot alot poorer. it just confirms one thing, nothing is ever cheap in australia. but i believe money can be earned back later, as long as i get my visa done, i can get jobs. so many graduate software engineers programs out there in big companies now..

been watching kinship through mobtv, many many thanks to connie who gave me her user n password! and becoz internet here in perth works with a monthly quota, instead of how we have unlimited access in spore.. the quota for my place is 40GB with adsl 2. i can download one episode of 222mb in about 10 mins which is pretty fast, but becoz our quota has been reached, the speed goes down to 56k. just imagine how pathetic internet is at 56k!

so in order to continue downloading my shows, me n henry went driving around the suburb trying to use other's wireless internet. we stopped at one house just one street away and managed to get an average speed of 60+ kb per sec, but connection was lost suddenly.. so we guessed that the people in the house probably shut down their modem since we parked directly in front of their car.. drove around but not much luck until we decided to go cash converter coz henry said they have wireless as well. but just as i guessed, they probably shut down their modem at nite.. so we drove around vic park suburb and we managed to get a connection of 800kb per sec! wahahah.. as if we hit the jackpot. it takes 4 mins to download one episode.. but becoz we drove around for 2 hours alreadie, we couldnt stay for long since he has early class today. definitely going back to that house again later on to download more episodes of kinship.. and joanna acted in that show as the promoter for OSIM! so cool that she can act part time..

show me the way

i'm stuck again. just like how i was few months ago, having to make the decision to stay or to leave. i want to stay becoz of the quality of life here, and becoz i love the slow pace of life and freedom. i want to leave becoz i see myself with my family and having confidence in my work.

i know the job market in spore is good, but it comes with the price of working late and lower pay. whilst others have already started their PR application, i have not done a single thing. Having police clearance from both spore and perth, taking the english test, going for medical checkup, finding the right agent and whatnots.

i really have no idea what to do..

im getting old

end of first week of school, i know it doesn concern me since i've finished uni... but........ it doesn't help to stay in a house of 8 where everyone is in uni whilst im not!

been thinkin of going back to uni again, but i know mum will kill me becoz of the money and time since she's been nagging at me to look for a proper job instead of macdonalds. i know im very easily influenced by people around me.. since young whatever others has, i would want it as well. about 2+ years ago, i made the decision in coming here was becoz i didnt want to start working and i chose curtin over uwa was becoz i wanted to play for 2.5 years instead of 1 year. now that i dont have a reason to be in uni, i want to go back to school..

i know i cant always be playin my whole life, but.. i still wanna study.. somehow i dont feel prepared to start working.. neither can i imagine myself working day and night back in spore. thought about getting PR and study accounting, but... seriously mum's gonna kill me big time if i ever do that.

argh. i dont wanna grow up yet..

north makes us sick

5 out of 8 of us were down with sore throat fever and flu. as a result.... we didnt get to cook bak ku teh nor chicken rice for dinner and ing ing who was supposed to be the main chef for the meals, didnt cook.

while all of us imagined monkey mia as a huge island full of dolphins and whatnots, it wasn't. 26km away from its nearest town - denham, has only 5 dolphins coming upclose to humans. -_-
we travelled more than 850km just to reach this oh-so beautiful place as seen in brochures, but all we got was 5 dolphins onshore, and a few more dolphins in the sea. that really wasn't worth the drive and time.

and best part of all, we didnt get to go sandboarding nor steep point(the most western point of western australia) not becoz we dont have a 4WD, but we dont have the pump. -_- so why on earth did we bother paying extra for a 4WD when we aren't using the 4WD function???

on the other hand, kalbarri had alot more to offer in terms of natural scenery. although we had to do more den 5km of walking in a day just to see stuffs, it was worth the walk.. magnificent gorges and very very pretty sceneries.. especially with the sea and the sun rays as the background.. and we managed to see some white whales too!

thankfully, there was only one occasion where 2 kangaroos hopped across the road while we had enough time to brake and although it rained almost every day down north, we managed to cover the main attractions..

i've earned $1640 in the past month! and another 224 bucks for the last weekend.. not that im freaking rich, but i feel so proud of myself! haha. aussie 1.8k is equivalent to sing dollar 2000+, which is as good as what a full time job pays in spore. after seeing what i've earned, the aches, the lack of sleep, the amount of yawns, the amount of times i stone is all worth it.

but of coz, when u earned alot, u spend alot as well.... 400 went to my family, another 500 will be spent on my trip down north, and i have been spendin alot eating out..

went for the perth convention centre recruitment day yesterday and i got in! 17.40 for normal days, 21 for saturdays, and 32 for public holidays! gosh, 32 bucks per hour. still unsure if i should take this job up, coz perth convention centre is near city(which means i have to take a bus) and the timings might not fit into my schedule if i take up an admin job. and i hate to say no to good money. damm.

holidays time!

been real busy ever since i started having 3 jobs. im left with only 1 at mac coz.. im quitting the sahara restaurant and im no longer workin at the IT company! i dun have to wake up at 830am everyday now! Perth's Infor Global Solutions is closing down as of 28th sept 2007, thus the no need for us to be there.. the news was really sudden to all 5 of us from curtin, but i can pretty much guess how happy 5 of us were actually in our hearts, since it means the end of the unpaid work. it was nice knowing the 3 guys - mirza, simon and nicholas, as well as the singaporean indian girl sudha. it was also nice knowing the pple in Infor, and special thanks to dennis who always was on the lookout to "take care" of me since i was always complaining of boredom.

i never had enough sleep during this period, so i finally have the chance to sleep all i like again! that's until i get another day job lah. but otherwise i'll be only workin on wkends at mac for now.. see how my interview at technology park goes, if not i'll find work as admin..

anyways, i probably wont start working until end of july coz adrian is planning on a trip down north to shark bay and monkey mia.. la la la la la
