my internal mini crisis

becos i spent like 930 bucks in the past month (and the month hasn't ended yet!) and most of it was spent on food n clothes. and den i remembered, i ate out for almost everyday in 2 weeks! i grounded myself this weekend. even though i stayed home, had my meals at home, i still spent 70 bucks!!! 60 on dentist, 10 on my misc ingredients for cooking. arghhh. so that makes it to a total of 990 on my card, and some hundreds by cash. ooommmgggg. and den i need to pay mum 2k for my trip, change few hundreds for expenses. goodness me. and the stupid gondola i wan to sit is euro 35!!! which means its sgd70! crazyyy! pay 70 to sit thru a high class canal!

best part is im already thinking of where to go in dec. i think i should go do some part time work n get more money to go holiday!!! i wan to go bkk, i wan to go bali, i wan to go taipei, i wan to go perth. that reminds me, i have not made up my mind whether to renew my western australia license.. n whether i should convert it to spore license... i doubt mum will ever get me a car now that they lost so much to lehman :( stupid lehman. aunt said she'll buy a car for each of me n cousins if she gets back her money. but im not greedy! a honda fit doesn cost tt much!

yups! i had a phone call this morning at 10am whilst i was still cosily in bed since its raining outside, my first reaction was to see if its from 'someone' but woohoo it wasn't! *dances* the someone went to hk today!!! so we're all without government and calls-free for the next few days!

went to cce meeting yesterday, only to find out bryan was on MC. aiyo, MC den MC lah, but at least sms us that you're on MC rite mr bryan teo? went to anchorpoint after that with rach, walked around in ikea whilst waiting for mr randy n mr thomas..by then my feet was already in pain being in heels for the morning. went to jack's place for lunch since it was someone's treat and went to order the microsoft polos n jerseys. cabbed down to sgx after that and the meeting was okay.. can sort of visualise what they want, and how it works. and then, the susie that randy described as a very blur girl, happens to be my poly lecture mate!! she's not blur at all loh! in fact, she's one of the top few of the e-commerce course la! which explains why she studied in NUS after poly. but, one point i felt weird was that she said she worked in sgx for 2 yrs! how can that be when we both spent 3 yrs in uni, and i've only worked for 6 months, but she worked for 2 years?! i went to uni 6 mths after my poly, so at best, she could have worked for 6 months more den me wad! where did the other 1 year come from??? anyways, i was taking alot of glances at her during the meeting, becos i was wondering if she is the girl in my course, but i confirmed it was the same person becos of her mole! *SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH* ntu got a mr big moley, sgx got a ms small moley! and i dun understand how she can be blur as randy said, becos pple is the super smart type one wor, needless to say, she hanged out with the smartest in my lecture. and mr randy was happily asking me to get her msn to keep in touch?! erms........... i dont really.......have much to say to a nerd leh. and den she asked me a question

the needed catchup

met up with my uni best fren - dear chris who's back in sg! i haven seen him for like, almost a year! we had a pretty nice long chat at deliveg, a vegetarian restaurant in chinatown. food was.....okay. im not exactly a fan of vegetarian food, so...it was weird eating 'fake' meats although i was attracted to the sayings on their wall. like, 'you dont eat the animals becos they dont eat you' etc. walked to far east square and continue chatting in one of the swings there, and then walked back to swensens for dessert.

its good to catch up with him again after i've left perth.. and den he totally laughed his head off at the farm i want to have. wats wrong with waking up to the moo-moos, meh-mehs? its possible ok chris!

and like he mentioned, i miss the feeling of walking along the slope from curtin's carpark down to cross the road to erica underwood. 2.5 years walking down that road to get to uni, but im missing it now. actually i miss everything about uni lah. except the expensive food. my only regret was that i should have started learning driving in the beginning.. i probably could have explored more during weekends and holidays.

most of the com sci frens are back in their home country, whilst the rest are happily in perth. when will my mr nguyen graduate, get a job and support me and my farm?

the lehman after effects

a week has passed after this lehman and whatnots, me went shopping with cousin happily today! she shopped so much today can! so irritating! the first thing i met her, she said 'something very big happened u know'. i thought her maid ran away or wad la.. in the end its this lehman thing. but she's thankful her dad didnt scream at her mum! haha, funny ar. and she's not affected, becos her mum terms this of being an 'earthquake', she said its just a 'tremor'! aiyo, anyway it wont affect us much except they said no year end holiday! so we'll secretly make our own plans to go vietnam or wherever!

had a short walk along the siglap connector to ecp with 2nd aunt yesterday n i told her i wan to buy a hdb flat if i have the money! den she suggested me to get mum to lend me the down payment, and then she commented she should look out for houses to invest too. this morning i overheard her talking to an agent, about condos.
-_- aiyo, we were talking about hdb the night before, and the next morning she was talking about a 3 million condo. -_- crazy, 3 million for an old condo just becos it has seaview. i think getting a flat around old airport road is good since circle line would be up soon, and leisurepark is nearby.

no one knows what's going to happen in the financial world anymore. i think having a flat is safer than investing in banks nowadays. 3 more weeks to my holiday!

the lehman effect

its been all over bloomberg, cna, cnbc and whatnots that lehman brothers have filed for bankruptcy under chapter 11. one of the bigger players in the states with 160 years of history has to close down?! my 4th aunt has been 'camping' in the living room watching cnbc for the latest news from usa..becos...all my aunts has hundred thousands worth of mini bonds with lehman brothers! i certainly hope my mum doesnt have a share! and if no other banks buy over lehman brothers, it means their investments are gone! 2nd aunt is pretty cool about it, becos there's nothing that she can do about it anyways.

so i'll cross my fingers that she does get back her money, if not part of, else we wont be able to po her to sponsor us anymore trips.

dinner at dover

went to my cousin's place for dinner together with novi and meimei. sat thru an almost 1.5 hour bus ride to her place..and den my aunt who was supposed to come over after her bukit timah hike tua me! dinner was good, abit stressful which is the norms for me whenever i have meals at other's place. uncle koh invited me for dinner on monday! he invited his ex-mda top shot colleagues for dinner.. so he kept asking if im coming. but nah, i'm not into rubbing shoulders and exchanging an ugly business card with such high class pple. and my uncle is one of the mda users ex boss! after i told her he's my uncle, she said 'bye joanne' to me at the last meeting can!!!! previously i was like invisible to them! how practical is she loh!! i super look down on her now.

met up with my shorties for dinner yesterday at suntec's imperial treasure n dessert at nydc. imperial treasure is so-so, 2nd time there and its still unable to convince me that their food is nice. mudpies in nydc seemed to have shrunk alot! siew lin and alicia came over to my place to chill by the pool with meimei! and my aunt brought back her korean fren to stayover can!

a week of overtimes

3rd day in a row in NCS, and my first time working till 1+ AM?!?! reached home at 2, by the time i bathed and hair is dried, its already 3am. on top of that, i caught a cold the next day after the bbq, and better still, aircon in NCS's server rooms is colder now! I brought a normal jacket on monday, and then it was really freezing cold lah!!!!! aiyo, i regretted not listening to raymond when he sms me earlier to 'bring your winter wear becos server room is freezing'. on tuesday, i went to dig out mum's woollen jumper! haha, it definitely did keep me warm, but becos we were there for a long period, i was still cold.

i was happy to be at ncs rather than mda, budden after leaving ncs at 1+ AM on tues nite, i asked randy if i could be at mda instead. of cos his answer was no. and of cos i still prefer to be at ncs rather than mda anytime despite the long hours. but then again, i feel im of not much help becos i seriously have no clue about workflows calling a plugin which calls like 4-5 stored procedures?! most of the time, im just entertaining them, or helping to test if it works. i think we have easily did those steps more den a hundred times!

talking about ncs, i saw pearly! my dog's original owner! at ncs canteen! i found her familiar and then she was giving me that weird look like why am i staring at her.. i got out to talk to her and den she remembered me! such a small small world to see her in ncs..

my cousin told me about how painful it was to explain to her mum about facebook. aunt asked my cousin to create a facebook account for her...my cousin created for her, and then my aunt's reply?

"no no, u teach me how to create then i go office and create! you create at home den how i bring the facebook to office?"

the longest bbq

went shopping with mum for winter wear at suntec and den at parkway.. super happy with my new jackets! we were going from one shop to another, and then i spotted it from outside and then it fitted nicely! mum liked the other grey jacket, so we both had one each from springfield. and then i got a holely one from mango! it was quite a rush since she only had yesterday to shop since she's going to brisbane today. and she'll be there for 2 weeks! the house will be even quieter tmr when my grandparents n 2nd aunt goes to china..

but.... i get to have parties and create havoc at home given the rare chance that grandparents arent at home! probably have a sleepover with mabel n joy this weekend! i got myself a jacket which actually comes in 2 jackets but they can be attached together.. i thought of bringing the inner jacket to ncs becoz its really thick and i've been having a minor flu/runny nose and my lips were dry till it's allergic, when i usually get that dry allergic lips when i go to cold countries. that's how cold it was in ncs's server rooms.

talking of wednesday's at ncs, we left that place near 11. and without dinner. becos there wasn't any food available, and i thought i deleted some actual data, which i panicked for a while. and then while raymond was trying to re-populate the data back into their fields, i started to do them manually. (249 records were affected so i couldnt take the risk of leaving it) luckily, nothing was deleted, and the 249 records that i thought was affected, was actually added instead of updating the records! so there i was, finally calming down and deleted the extra 249 records. becos we had no other way of updating the 1000+ records, we left.

going back to yesterday, i had a short nap before loxy woke me up. and then i waited by my balcony to look if anyone had reached. that was already 5.30. rachel called at 5.45pm so i cycled to meet her..and then some china pple were at our pit! wah lao, they think its first come first serve or wat... we chased them off and started the fire. it poured heavily at like 8+ till 9+ !! so cold and so squeezy! i so wanted to cycle home in the rain! and then, the guys continued the bbq-ing, but not before setting up the temporary 'shelter'. fire went on and off, and it didnt end till 2+ am?! was supposed to leave around 9 or 10+ becos mum would be leaving early this morning, and so i didnt get the chance to see her and say saranghae before she left this morning :(

reached home at 3, bathed, and finish the last bit of coffee prince. its a really really nice drama, and even yoon eun hye herself said she's so into go eun chan's role that she'll go crazy if she's not acting as go eun chan. all their acting was great, i cried alot when she went to milan to study becos it felt just the same way when i had to leave for australia. i felt so into the show can! even joy said she was very into the show, and we wished it didnt stop! i read there would be coffee prince 2, but no idea if its confirmed. but the main lead gong yoo wouldnt be in it cos of army. arghhhh the scenes of coffee prince are still flashing through my mind!

time really flies when you're busy.. and i've sort of 'detached' myself from the office unofficially! second week of requirements gathering for mda, and its tiring can.. im always yawning in meetings, and i admit i sometimes do that purposely to display my tiredness. especially times like today, where i finished work at ncs near 11 yesterday, and then meeting at 9.30am today! i was quite grouchy this morning, partly becos of what happened the night before, and then i was arrowed to do some traceability matrix (wtf is this loh) by joseph, the ncs's pm. and then i just checked my emails and by a twist of fate, mr im-very-busy got shot by the arrow instead!

im literally dancing when i saw this email can?! maybe it was my black face that made joseph change his mind? or maybe he knows i have 4 projects? or maybe he thinks mr im-very-busy-and-late will do a better job than i will? anyway, i dont care, and i have one less burden. somemore on a weekly basis loh..

on my way to exhaustion

its been a really long long time since i'm up at this time working! the last time was while rushing for mfa developments, and today its because i have 3 projects on hand all crying for attention.

and then my mind got farm-alized today. i started visualising myself staying in a farm in aussie, waking up to the moo moo sounds of the cows, barking of my dogs, meh-ings of my sheeps, and the oink-ings of my pigs, oh and lastly, the cryings of my babies. haha.

somehow after last nite's family dinner, i had this sudden urge to be back in australia again. to be able to drive down to woodman's point for some fishing, to lie down and look at the stars, to drive with the cold wind slapping my face, and to be away from this crazy place.

a break wouldn't help becos i still have to face the shit when im back.

i seriously want to retire soon... and my dearie has agreed to getting a big plot of land so i can have my farm fantasy fulfilled. even though i wouldnt sell any animals becos i know i would end up crying if they had to be killed for food. and then my family members can take turns to come visit me whenever they are stressed or for a weekend trip to see my cows pigs sheeps!

oooh, and my house will be rather quiet the next 2 months.. my poor dog will be home alone with novi.. and i get to cook dinner for 2 of us! grandparents will be back in fuzhou for a month, 2nd aunt will be with them for a week, shortly after 3rd aunt goes to nepal, and then we go to switzerland, and den mum will be in brisbane for few weeks again when she just came back like yesterday? hopefully there are cheap airfares for me to make a weekend trip there..

its finally confirmed!

after soooo many months of talking, bookings and whatnots, my holiday of the year is finally confirmed. 13th October - 24th October! that's 2 weeks off hell here! (i think work is somewhat near hell...ok i exaggerated abit) from my initial plan of melbourne to korea, and then postphoned korea till oct, and then mum decided on me joining their switzerland trip as my birthday present, den booked me in, then changed travel agencies, then changed dates again, and finally 13th oct. like it took that long a process to get a confirmed trip?

so yay, i'll be off the mda project 'team' for 2 weeks... but, hey, i wasnt even part of it in the first place. anyway for now, my priorities are just the minutes, and my other projects. i'm not intending to start on any sow nor whatever documents becos i'm just in mda solely to take notes and keep rubbish. on that same note, rubbish goes to the bin OK?

i am now a secretary!

yup, i didnt know that my role in bps was changed to a notes-taker, better termed as a secretary! so exciting hor! like, wow! everyone's involved in customizations, designing and whatnots, and then im just a nobody except to take down notes.

he has left zero respect to me, i do not look at him as a technical director anymore, but a mini giant with dark eye rings who enjoys laughing and cleaning his sweat with his uncle-ish hankie, and oh! he doesnt pay claims on time. i used to be afraid of him(yes i admit im timid), after all he's the boss and all, but now, go fuck off.

doesnt he realise that there's a big problem with the management style here in this fucked up company by the amount of pple who have left this pathetic place for green pastures? (This place is not considered as green in the first place)

i couldnt sleep last nite becos my mind was about my role in this 3rd baby of mine. given a choice, i would very much love to abort this now. i do not wish to be frustrated over work matters just becos some idiot is insensitive. okay, one might argue that females are more sensitive. den put it this way, how would he feel if he's informed that he's in a new project. BUT...wait, you're just taking notes okay. nothing more. just take notes. what kind of stupid role is this?!

i seriously dunnoe how im going to survive and tolerate the remaining 7 months before my 1st year is up in this fucked up company lead by monkeys with pig brains. hello? even my dog is smarter and sensitive than u can?

of wires and wireless

went to get a wireless router becoz cheapskate me used a wireless adapter instead of the proper modem/router for stable wireless access which resulted in frequent disconnections. scouted the entire level 4 and 5 of sim lim before getting the zyxel p320w becos it seems like the only one with 5 dbi among its other competitors which were mostly 2 dbi. i wouldnt want to be waiting for my videos to load in my room given the blockage and distance from my study room to bedroom.

and then mr nguyen was very very persistent in wanting the wireless keyboard n mouse so that i can surf use them in the bedroom as well. budden i wouldnt want to connect a bunch of stuffs together only just to surf internet in my room ?!?! and then he realised it was freaking cheap (to him) so he bought it anyway.

so yay! i've got stable wireless, a wireless keyboard and mouse, audio wires, and a nice lcd! im all ready to start my weekend drama-thon!

1.5 weeks into randy's leave, and im struggling to survive without his help. becos of mfa's staff directory update process, i have been in contact with boss as he is the one developing this update process. its not that the work is hard, but i absolutely cannot figure out his emails. his instructions are not only very short, it also is very very vague, leaving nothing but a mind full of question marks. and then i have to resort to asking randy who is on leave who supposingly shouldnt have to bother about work.

its not that i dun wish to decipher his emails, but it takes a long time for me to actually realise what needs to be done. as it is, i still have cce and cits nitty gritty stuffs to handle before plunging myself totally into mda.

anyway, on a happier note, i have successfully deciphered part 1 of his email. on a not-so-happy note, i am still stuck in decrypting part 2 of his email.

good luck to myself, as i foresee much more of decrypting to be done for as long as mda goes on.

came back from office after lunch today since i didnt have much to do (SHHHH!) becoz MFA is pending for the SD where my job is only to provide the documentation, CCE is kinda stuck whilst CITS is pending for the SOW's sign off.

played wii boxing for about 30 mins before my arms couldnt take it given the strength i hit the opponents. it was good tat i vent my frustrations thru boxing (even though it was just wii) becoz jingle bell would be in the MDA project as well. which means im under patric, and him.

anyways, im hoping MDA wont start anytime soon, maybe year end or next year... and then if its really un-tolerable in MDA, get my bonus (if there's even any) and say byebye! its just nice tt it would be a year in bps next march. its not that i dislike my work, its just that half the pple in bps is not normal. there are those who like to question us (aka the newbies) our whereabouts if we were not in the office and his/her favourite quote is 'just buy time for projects' when they are happily cosily watchin dramas, and then there are those who like to laugh it off when we get serious with them, and then we get funny emails, perhaps trying to encourage the use of emails in toilets becoz, erm maybe there's a typhoon out there?

busy week

the 2 girls stayed over at my place on friday nite, and we played wii till like 3am before gg to bed at 4+ becoz joy was happily criticising on the pple from different countries in olympics's opening ceremony.

been out every single day the past week and im already feeling the 'oldness' in me. went to junction 8 with raymond n randy on monday nite after work, class on tues, dinner with shorties on wed, siew lin's grandma's wake on thurs, dinner n stayover with mabel n joy on fri, kbox on sat sponsored by my dear aunt, jb on sunday. and then mum borrowed wii from her office. im seriously in need of my sleep.

went to sin ming drive for siew lin's grandma wake on thurs, thanks to alicia who drove there and becoz the carpark is so so congested with cars parking everywhere, and being the kan chiong spider, she went to check on her car making sure she wasnt blocking anyone now n then. the wake was pretty......different coz her family members were busy taking pictures?! i would have expected a crying scene or a rather sad one, but instead taking pictures!

the red birthday

went to ndp rehearsal on sat with joy! it was super hot, humid, squeezy and rather unorganised to a certain extent. anyway, it wasn't the VVIP tix, but VIP. we were directed to a different path without much queue, and our fun packs were at our seats! the thing was, while directed to the different path from others, we didnt know that the fun packs were already at our seats, so we took it just like others did. halfway gg up to our seats, joy realised we were the only 2 fools lugging the fun packs! by the time we finally sat down, i sweated as much as i did in the gym before gg for ndp. it was just that that hot. when we finally settled down, we were busy finding the 'shiny fan' tt adrian pang said to take out to form a formation. we had 4 fun packs, but we couldnt find that shiny thingy which was actually below our seats -_- it wasnt as comfy as it was in stadium coz there wasn't much leg space, and what more we had extra fun packs taking up the space. anyways! despite the sweat, squeeze, queues, we still enjoyed the ndp and the fireworks..

mum called me 5 mins after she left for work, mins after i was awake. TAY PING HUI WAS FILMING DOWNSTAIRS AT THE BBQ PIT CAN?!?! And then, she said bring meimei down to see. Like, hello? as if my dog will know tat handsome guy is tay ping hui???

anyway, i quickly changed, put my sunblock n stuffs, took my camera n went down. And den, i saw nothing except 2 dog owners, 3 dogs and the empty bbq pits. -_- anyhow, i walked around the estate trying to look out for a group of pple, lightings, cameras and den my darling meimei poo-ed. In my hurry to get down, i didnt bring any thing with me except my camera n house card! Thank god charlotte's owner gave me some paper...

so was i too slow or were they too fast? mum called again and she said maybe they were packing up when she saw them coz they were here quite early.. she said there were a few guys filming, but the gardener told her it was tay ping hui. scarli got christopher lee, shaun and other handsome guys!
